Road Tested

Heading out on a three day business trip, I'm reminded of the vast differences in family travel and business travel.  For starters, business travel requires significantly less luggage.  Even with personal luggage, business samples and a computer case - business travel wins for ease.  But then again, family travel wins in every other way.  Here's to a good week of serving funeral directors.  #lovemypeople

Tack Test

A more laid back Memorial Day, we took the opportunity to saddle everybody up to confirm who was wearing what.  Not as easy as you might think, but a good morning in the pasture.

An Irish Blessing

When your Irish friend shows up to help give the new girl her first bath.  Wow! What a difference some soap and water can make.

You Guessed It

We cut her loose after the bath and in less than five minutes she was rolling in the dirt.  Next time we'll put her in the stall until she dries.

Fionn watched Desert roll and decided he would try the mud bath idea.  Fun watching kids imitate life - even horse life.  Clara was amused also.

Up with the sun and headed to Columbia to pick up little Ms. Desert.

Salt block, hay, grain and new friends.  Who wouldn't love a place like this?  But she does have to stay in a smaller pen until the vet gives the "all clear" next week.

Tri Star Auction

We heard Tri Star has moved it's auction to Columbia so we decided to see what it was all about.  Deborah spotted this girl and decided to ride her. She asked the owner what her name was and he said, "she doesn't have a name."  An Amish guy walked by who had raised her, Deborah asked him, "what's her name?"  "She never had a name," he said.  Deborah looked at me and said, "I've been through the desert on a horse with no name...."  If you're a child of the 70's,  you'll get the reference.

Well, we bought her. He name is Desert.  This poor girl has a name for the first time in her 13 years.  I'll be candid  - she's a bit of a rescue.  Not sure this horse has been really loved or cared for and is certainly under weight.  But we have high hopes for her.  Welcome to the family, Desert!

Is That Dad?

I think the horses were glad to see me. Yes, that's a mostly pain free smile.  The anti inflammatory and the truss are doing their job. The hard part is me doing my job by not stretching or lifting. We'll call this progress.
