Halloween Delayed
What do you do when the rains come and Halloween is postponed a day? Well, you run out to buy pie pumpkins, craft supplies and baking supplies. You make and bake with the kids - that's exactly what you do.
Finished Product
A few hours later, Isabella was all smiles as she posed with the Elmo and Princess pumpkins that Daddy made for her. It may be raining tricks on the outside, it is all treats on the inside.
Truthfully, I think we shocked ourselves. Neither of us thought these pumpkins would turn out as good as they did.
Alien Pumpkin
While Daddy was working on Elmo and the Princess, Isabella was creating a masterpiece she called The Alien. I think it be aptly named.

Stacking Fire Wood
Skyler and I have a new and enthusiastic helper when it comes to stacking fire wood. She is all smiles and all muscle - even managed to wipe the sweat off of her forehead while holding a piece of wood.
And good thing! Not even November and we have already had three fires in the fire pit. Looks like it might be a fire side Fall and Winter for the House of Cain.

Spooks Week
Isabella wanted to start off Halloween week by reminding everyone what makes her happy. This is her "Candy Makes Me Happy" shirt - in case anyone had a doubt.
Still, in a week of spooks and goblins, she is a breathe of fresh air.

Labor of Love
Isabella asked me if I would make her a roast for Sunday dinner - I couldn't say no. I went to bed at 2:15am but got up at 5:30am to put the roast in the oven. Tired, yes. Regrets - not one.
When you're a one dish chef, you do what you do. Glad Isabella (and the whole family) enjoys the one dish I do well. Blogging about it has made me hungry. Think I might head to the kitchen for a roast beef sandwich.

Dancing Ghost
Isabella's dancing ghost artwork is literally dancing above the stove. It must be that scary time of the year. BOO!

Final Harvest
An early hard freeze being predicted for Spring Hill, Isabella and I went out to cut the last Hydrangea blooms for a center piece. Seeing their color and beauty, it is hard to believe the plant will be dormant in 24 hours.
Headed into the house, Isabella asked me a question that required the wisdom of Solomon. She said "Daddy, can these flowers be for me and not for Mommy?" I thought for a minute and said, "there is one for you, one for Mommy and one for Skyler." Whew, dodged one there.

Texas...
Did I mention Texas BBQ? We have enjoyed BBQ several times and it's all good - the ribs, the brisket, the pulled pork. Texas BBQ - as good as advertised.
And no, that is not me on the mechanical bull. I still need a little more practice before trying to tame the leather.
