Bison Boulevard

Well, so much for the sprint back to base.  About ten minutes after we took off from Madison, the guide brought us to a complete stop. It was quickly apparent why.  We had been cautioned that the bison sometimes use the road to travel.   They weren't wrong.

In the winter, the bison have little access to food. They survive by conserving energy, they walk in a single file so only one has to clear the way.  And often they choose the path of least work - like the road that has already been cleared.

We pulled over, stopped and got off of our snowmobiles.  Keeping the machine between us and the Bison. They didn't seem to mind us at all.  #epic  #bucketlist
