Fall Break 2012

With Bell Buckle behind us, the family woke up early Sunday morning to pack and depart for a trip to the Mountains.    A great afternoon for a drive across the Plateau and into the majestic East Tennessee mountains.

We decided to skip lunch so everyone would be plenty hungry for an early dinner at the Apple Barn. The hour wait proved a good time for the kids to practice their tree climbing skills.  (just what I need, a broken arm on the first day of Fall Break - but they survived.)

After dinner,  Bella managed to beat Mommy and Skyler in a Go-Cart race at The Wild Woody track. Bragging rights once again but I must admit I had to use my front bumper to move my way to the front.

Life lesson - either lead or get out of the way.  (Skyler calls this rule the "you better wreck Dad before he wrecks you rule.)

My Own Tub

So very, very proud to announce big news in the tubbie department.  For the fifth straight day, Bella has chosen to take her tubbie alone and in the kids bathroom, rather than with Mommy or Daddy.

This is really big news and especially welcome news for Mommy who has rarely enjoyed a bath of her own in the last three years. 

And why is there a baby doll sitting in a chair in the bathroom?  Bella sat her there so they could talk to each other during her tubbie.   Hey, if it works, who's judging?

I'm not at all convinced Skyler is excited about the news.  He has enjoyed not having to share his bathroom - let alone share it with a girl.  The chirping of "she takes too long" has already started - he has no idea! 

I'm guessing this wouldn't be the time to tell him the worst is yet to come.  For now, just glad Mommy thought ahead and decorated the bathroom with both of them in mind.  The blessed day has arrived - we have our bathroom, the kids have theirs.

A great family tradition continues.  Bella and family enjoyed the day at Bell Buckle, TN for the Webb school Arts & Craft Fair.

Bungee

A first.   I can't believe it, but a first for Baby Bella.  And what's amazing - it was all her idea.  She insisted on doing the bungee trampoline the minute she saw it .   I agreed to inquire thinking they would say she was too small.  No such luck.

The fee paid, I thought maybe she would chicken out - I thought wrong.  Harness secure, away she went - belly showing to boot.  Smiles for miles.

Bungee Again

Not once, but twice.  Later in the afternoon, Bella shed the sweater and harnessed up again for a fun jump on the bungee trampoline.  This time, she talked Daddy into joining her.

The Pledge of Allegiance

Dear Lord, Please make this country worthy of her allegiance.  Help this country to live up to it's noble calling and be great again.  Save us from enemies foreign and domestic. God, please, Bless America.

Falling for Fall

Daddy and Bella are falling in love with Fall.  Bella cheesing it up with the pumpkins - she is loving Fall.  My kind of girl.

Olympic Hurler

Word to the wise - don't ever under estimate Bella's determination.  From the look on her face, you would think she was competing for a gold medal in the Olympics.  Twenty years from now - she just might.

CD/Radio Player

Her very first CD/Radio player.  Baby Bella is the proud owner of a Hello Kitty (what else) player.

Mommy and Daddy are hopeful that white noise CD's will improve Bella's sleep patterns.  Bella is hopeful that she can now enjoy Veggie Tales CD's in her room.  Larry and Bob the Tomato...it's all yours.

Room Remodel

The time arrived where it was necessary to replace Baby Bella's rocking chair with the desk that matches her bedroom furniture.

Intentional decision?  Yes, but that didn't prevent Mommy and I from having a moment of silence as we took out the rocker that we have used from Bella's very first day at home.

The night stand and chest had to be moved.  Her famed kitchen relocated to a window view and her desk was introduced under the princess mirror.  The letters Daddy made for her name had to be moved over the bed.

And Bella?  She was thrilled.  And that is all that really matters.

Masked Crusader

 

 

Future heart surgeon?  Bank Robber?   I hope the former.  It didn't stop at two drawers of blankets. Bella woke up this morning and emptied a third dresser drawer.   And bless her heart, she tried on everything she found - both old and new.
