Vacation 2011 - Day One

Aw, good to be in paradise again.

The family enjoyed some time in the sun, sand and pool.   Baby Bella kicked around the pool like a fish in water but was a little intimidated of the ocean and wanted to be held. 

Vacation 2011 - Watermelon

Sklyer decided to participate in the Watermelon eating contest sponsored by the hotel.

Proud to report that he was the best among the kids.  He came in third behind a couple of adults.  Sad to report that he was then so sick he couldn't eat his lunch.  Still, good times!

Vacation 2011 - Sand Castle

With the watermelon contest a distant memory, Skyler entered the sand castle contest.  His team lost to a team that included mermaids.  Stinky girls!  Still, good times on the beach.

Vacation 2011 - Intro to the Beach

Mommy tried to give Baby Bella a gentle introduction to the beach.  She just wasn't ready to embrace such a big and powerful body of water.   Back to the pool for a snack and some R&R.

Vacation 2011 - The 4th

A day of sun and fun ended with a trip to Pizza Hut where the fireworks were on display - by our kids!!!!!

Deborah and I can not remember a more disruptive meal and it wasn't just one.  They were both feeling their oats tonight.  I just hope it isn't a sign of things to come.  Kaboom!

Ever get the feeling you are the family everyone is talking about when you leave?   And on the ride home the parents say things like "I'm glad our kids don't act like that in public?"  Tonight, I am that Dad.  Those are my kids.  Go me!

Vacation 2011 - The Flight

Baby Bella did GREAT at the airport and on the plane.  Daddy was more than concerned but she handled it like an old pro. 

Skyler wasn't happy about having to sit across the aisle but soon realized he was in flight heaven - no one in the seat beside him, no baby in his row and no Daddy to steal his peanuts.   Hmmm, not a bad seat choice.

Under Pressure

Note to self:  don't leave the Thermos lid closed during take off.  Pressure builds up in the cup and causes milk to spray out like a fire hose when you open it in flight.

Baby Bella successfully sprayed herself, Mommy and two people in the seats behind us.  Bella's response? Let's do it again.

Air Show

Timing is everything.  We pulled up to the hotel to learn that we were in time for the air show over the beach.  We scurried up to our room to watch an impressive airshow followed by fireworks.

A great start to our Amelia Island vacation.

Front Porch

Baby Bella and family spent a little front porch time with Grandma and Grandpa before heading out on vacation.  

It was, of course, day one of vacation for the kids because going to Grands house is always a vacation.
